You can run on, for a long time...

In 2003, my grandmother died on Aug. 13. Warren Zevon died on Sept. 7. Johnny Cash died on Sept. 12. They're forever linked in my head.

I never got into Zevon until just before he died, when the cancer was killing him and he was trying to record his last album. I liked The Wind, but when I got Learning To Flinch, I knew I had something special.
