The Cash Cow Lumbers On

Just heard Rush is touring again this year. They'll be in Indy on June 25. That would be a Wednesday. Greaaat.

They're also releasing a 2-disc live album this year.

That makes something like 8 live albums. Here are the first seven:

All The World's A Stage
Exit...Stage Left
A Show Of Hands
Different Stages
Rush In Rio
R30
Grace Under Pressure Live

And if you're a fanboy, you probably have Run From The Fans and The Fifth Order of Angels, two unofficial (but still great sounding) live recordings. Live Under Pressure is just okay. I might have one or two more but don't recall.

Point being, is this really necessary? A live album after every tour? I mean, I like the Pearl Jam model of releasing every show in limited run...because if you're at the show you can have a document. But this Rush thing...I just don't know.

[He wrote while totally planning to buy everything they ever release because he's a lemming and they know.]

Nice.. Wednesday... count me out. I have actually digested two of Mr. Peart's travelogue books in the last several months.

In particular, the one where he hops on a motorcycle for a year after the death of his wife and daughter, is good.

The cycling across Africa piece is good, but not as intense, surprisingly.

Neil makes me want to buy a motorcycle moreso than play the drums. That being said, I did catch these guys at Polaris in Ohio while traveling 6 years ago for work. I was talked into it at the last minute, and picked upa $15 lawn seat. I have to say they do rank in my top ten shows of all time.

You could choose not to go to the concert. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
